UND women’s golf sits 15th after opening day in Tacoma

The University of North Dakota women’s golf team stood 15th after the opening day of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Monday, Oct. 5, at Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Tacoma, Washington, according to a University of North Dakota Athletics announcement.

UND posted rounds of 306 and 303 for a two-round total of 609 in the 17-team field, the announcement said. Sophie Cook led the Fighting Hawks, tying for 45th at 6-over-par 150 after rounds of 77 and 73.

Payton Stocker was two strokes behind Cook and tied for 56th at 152, while Ella Speidel tied for 62nd at 153. Mallory Uselman tied for 66th at 154, and Gigi Lund tied for 77th at 156, according to the announcement.

Cook and Stocker each played the par-5 holes 2-under through 36 holes, with a 4.75 scoring average, the announcement said. As a team, UND was 2-under on par-5s, with a 4.95 scoring average.

The final 18 holes were scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Tacoma Country & Golf Club, with a 10 a.m. Central Time shotgun start, according to the announcement.
