The University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences is starting the first phase of a space optimization project at its Grand Forks building, with office moves beginning in late November and the Student Affairs & Admissions expansion projected to finish in early 2027, according to the school’s Nov. 5 announcement.
The school said Phase 1 will expand Student Affairs & Admissions and create a dedicated entrance. The Department of Indigenous Health is expected to move from E263 to the INMED suite, E251, around late November; Technology Resources is expected to move from E202 into E263 around Dec. 1, according to the announcement.
Student Affairs & Admissions will temporarily move from suites W101/103 to E202 during parts of construction, then return to its expanded and renovated space when the project is complete, the school said. Faculty and staff in W116 will be reassigned elsewhere, with locations still to be determined for affected programs including Geriatrics, Genomics Core and Biomedical Sciences.
The Center for Rural Health space is also slated to include a new dedicated entrance, but its construction timeline has not been set, according to the announcement. A Welcome Desk is in design for unused cafeteria space on the building’s first floor. The school said engineering assessments for the expansion are complete and final bid documents are being distributed to contractors; specific move dates and construction schedules remain subject to change.
Questions about the changes may be directed to an immediate supervisor or Michael Nord, the school’s assistant director of facilities, space and safety, at michael.k.nord@UND.edu, the announcement said.
