The University of North Dakota Athletics said the fourth-ranked Fighting Hawks beat Bentley 5-0 on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, completing a two-game sweep before a sellout crowd of 11,652.
UND goaltender Caleb Heil stopped all 15 shots for his second consecutive shutout, and the athletics announcement said he is believed to be the first freshman goaltender in North Dakota history to open his career with back-to-back shutouts.
Anthony Menghini scored twice, while Hudson Malinoski, Cody Croal and Brasen Boser each scored once, according to UND Athletics. The announcement said Menghini’s first goal came in the first period; Malinoski and Croal scored early in the second, and Boser and Menghini added third-period goals.
The win moved North Dakota to 4-0-0, its first 4-0 start since the 2016-17 season, the university said.
UND is scheduled to play at Minnesota on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. Central time, according to the announcement, which lists Midco Sports/B1G+ and the Fighting Hawks Radio Network for coverage.
